The Restroom Reno Is Underway!

August 19, 2024

It’s pretty exciting to see the mid-concourse restroom project taking shape! A new wall has gone up by Gate 4, and soon, the restrooms will be closed for the big renovation. Yes, there will be a few pain points – unless you pregame prior to the TSA Checkpoint.
Pro Tip: Make a pit stop at the restroom across from the Four Points Sheraton hotel in the terminal before entering the TSA Checkpoint. Empty your pockets of loose change, car keys, wallets, and take off your hat and sunglasses. Stow these items in your carry-on bag before hitting the checkpoint.

The restrooms at the far end of the concourse by Gate 7 will remain open during the construction process, also.

The entire project, which began in July, will take about nine months to complete. The footprint of the current restrooms will be doubled, making room to add two family-size restrooms for those traveling with small children or adult caregivers as well as a lactation room for nursing moms.

In the new plans, stalls are wider to accommodate luggage, and there will be grab bars, shelves, and coat hooks in every stall. There will be permanently-installed step stools at specific sinks to improve accessibility and even more shelving. The sinks will have automatic soap dispensers and hand dryers at every water-saving basin. LED lighting will complete the scene.

And we saved the best for last…no gaps in the stall partitions!

Adjacent to Gate 4, the restroom expansion project will close mid-concourse restrooms for nine months. The new restrooms will have LED lighting and low-flow plumbing fixtures as well as provide family restrooms. Photo credit: Huntsville International Airport
